1190 service codes

Hey is there any way to read the service codes without a dealer? Just picked up my brand spanking new 1190. I think the dealer missed a step on the initial set up, because I have a service with a wrench on it when it starts. The warning, abs, and tc lights are also on while running.

So I am going back to the dealer to get it resolved, but it got me thinking. Being the type to normally wrench everything myself, is there any way without connecting to the ktm mother ship that I can see the messages?

Hold the up and down buttons on the left switchgear and turn on the key.
Keep holding it until it says SERVICE on the display.
Use the up and down buttons to go to the time of service.
Set it to something more than 2 months. (I set mine to 12)
Turn Key off

Does the ABS and TCS light go off after riding?

No - they are on the whole time. I read the owners manual and checked a couple youtube videos and it does not seem normal.

I will try and reset the service interval when i get home on Thursday. Thanks!

Edit - I haven't ridden much yet. I bought out of state and trailered the bike home. I rode it around my neighborhood a few times, bike has 1.4 miles on the odometer. Soon as I get a plate Thursday its gonna be open road. Is there a chance the lights will go off if I ride it? Does that happen? Since the dealer is a state away, going back and forth to him is not convenient.

Also just to be clear I'm not talking about the TPMS, its the TC and ABS light I'm worried about.

The lights should go off after the tires go through a few revolutions. They normally stay on after you start it until you ride. It shouldn't take more than a few feet. If it does then there is something wrong.

Thanks wonway. I took the bike for a long ride and all the abs and tc lights went out. Now when I start the bike and move the lights go out the moment I start moving.

Never had a bike with warning lights before and on a new bike especially it's disconcerting that the dealer didn't reset service interval. Seeing a new bike start up with a wrench that says service now - plus an exclamation point and two other lights lit makes you think it's about to blow up.

Now she is running great, and is by far the best bike I have ever owned. Fun with a Capitol F. The motor is a gem, and not overpowered. Clutch and tranny are just about perfect and the tranny is not broken in yet.

One very happy ktm rider who never considered ktm before the 1190.

Good to hear. The default service warning is set to 2 months or 600 miles whichever comes first. I guess they are telling you to ride more :)
