1190 Fuel pump noise..

I just picked up my 1190 R from the dealership today and I have a question for the inmates. I did a bunch of searching but came up empty. After switching the key on I can hear the fuel pump prime and it sounds like it shuts off. The problem is the bike continues to make a whining whirring noise all before starting it up. Can anyone comment as to whether their bike makes some kind of mechanical noise anytime the key is switched on? I took the long 150 mile way home from the dealer and the bike is amazing. I just hope that this isn't a sign of a faulty fuel pump from the factory.

I was also wondering what the plug under the seat is for on top of the battery cover next to the slots for spare fuses. When I got home from the dealer and went over the bike that plug wasn't connected. Is that the bad fuel dongle or is that a separate purchase from KTM. The 1190 owner manual is lacking compared to my 500exc manual. Thanks for any help

Mine does the same, but not 100% of the time. I haven't been able to figure it out either.

I do not own a 1190.

However, 950s and 990s prime for a while and then stop. Maybe it is similar. Hope that helps.
Cheers

Mine does the same. I'm sure it's normal.

what color is the plug? It is most likely for the heated seat when/if you add it. Congrats on the new bike! I love mine.

If you want to play around in the menus without the fuel pump running just flip the kill switch and the pump will shut right down

The plug is white/clear. It connects to a dummy plug that has a spot next to the spare fuse slots. It makes sense that it's for the heated seat.

if it's the white multi-way connector, then It's for two things, first it's where the service center plug in the KTM diagnostic computer and do firmware updates to your 'bike, and second it is where the bad fuel / off road dongle lead plugs in. There should be a blanking plug for it, when it's not used otherwise.

The heated seat wiring is installed separately when you get the dealer to fit the Ergo seats, there are wiring harnesses and 3-way illuminated push switches supplied in the kit.

Thanks RobZorba. I figured it had to be something like that being that it only mates up with a dummy plug.

I think that whining noise comes from the fly-by-wire throttle.
