Is this the shroud you used?

http://www.theretrofitsource.com/com...n-shrouds.html

THe link in your first post is dead. You picture of the shroud looks like you have a lense and a reflector, which is more than what's included in the link above.

Thanks

He used this one. Actually, I think he used the last generation of that one, but the differences are tiny. You only need one per bike, and that link is to a pair. You'll also need a H1 HID bulb/ballast and wiring harness (or make your own). They come with a shroud, which is just an aesthetic accessory, but I don't think he used one, and I didn't use one either.

yeah, I used the H1 mini, which is under components/projector assemblies.

I did actually use the 'mini gatling' shroud on mine. I tried without it, but it seemed to throw a lot of light upwards, so I put it on there. The shroud was included with my version 5.0 model.

Again, note that the H1 mini is almost too long to fit, so the d2s version might be a better choice. I think it is a bit shorter.

Also, no problems to report at this point. The light output is great and, with the addition of a euro headlight switch, I don't have any issues with the light shutting off when cranking.

Good info. Looking at the specs on their site, it looks like the version you used is slightly shorter than the d2s version. Guess I should contact them. Thanks.

Huh, I guess the new version might be shorter then. I know when i got mine that I got the slightly longer one, knowing that it would be a tight fit but that the beam pattern was supposed to have a better spread. I don't know about the new one. Let us know what you find out.

I think they've updated both projectors now, and I think the D2S is supposed to be slightly better light now (especially because the available bulbs are better), and the Mini H1 is slightly easier/smaller to fit in. I think the takeaway is that either is pretty easy to retrofit (once you get the lens off) and either has far better light than stock or euro reflectors.
