Never ceases to amaze me that traffic, driving AT the speed limit or just barely over, will slow down upon seeing a cop, even when they are UNDER the speed limit. Brake lights like crazy, all packed up. Wierd.

I notice the cop, give them room, but only slow if I am in the "nine yer fine, ten yer mine" range of speed. I also will pass a cop, and have had no problems doing so.

I ride like every other driver, pedestrian, animal, etc is a psychotic monkey with rabies and the cops are poachers hiding in the bushes.

Works for me.

In normal, that is, flowing traffic conditions I also believe being a little faster puts the control more in your hands. I had an instructor once who said: "Why have someone else drive your car? By staying with the flow, you are basically letting everyone lease drive your car. Get engaged and drive your drive" . Sounds a lot like Ride your own ride. I find this applies to two lane as well.
In heavy, stop and go, I'd rather just get off and do side roads.
Ain't this a geographical oddity. Two weeks from everywhere.
