More falls than bridge but it was a really scenic road.

Pecan Slough Bridge near the Verdigris River, northeastern Oklahoma. Abandoned sometime between 1995 and 2003.

Rode 200+ km to find out that the bridge mere half-kilometre from our destination had been burnt badly and we'd have to do 40+ km to the nearest other one...well, it is what it is:

What road is this? Northern GA does have nice places to ride.

Don't think I've posted this one before. But then... I can't remember what I did five minutes ago either.

The "Big Mac" from Mackinaw City.

Nice picture Alcan Rider. You captured your bike, the bridge and the lighthouse.
I forgot about the lighthouse and just zipped on by.
Here is a picture I took while riding over the bridge. Many people don't know that the Mackinaw Bridge is 1/2 metal grate bridge. I'm not real fond of riding on metal grate bridge, but looking down through one that high is hot recommended.

Atherton Bridge: There has been a bridge at this spot over the Nashua River since the early 1600s. The bridge shown below was built in or around 1870 and is supposedly one of the oldest metal bridges in the country.

Having ridden about as far as I wanted to go on very soft/squishy ground (we had a lot of rain), I walked up to and across the bridge for a somewhat better picture.

HistoricBridges says this is one of only two post truss bridges in the country (their schematic below).

The other known post truss bridge is this one, known as the Ponakin Bridge, which was not in a location that welcomed visitors or motorcycles.

Just as I was taking this picture, there was a good deal of automatic weapons fire nearby. I took this as a cue to leave.
