The man has a point.

Plus, the red of the PCX is an eye-grabber. And, did I mention that leg thing?

Glad to hear you are having fun with the new bikes. How does the top speed of the Cub compare to the PCX? Acceleration from a stoplight?

If you want to do a double blind experiment to see if it is her legs or the bike, you could try switching bikes, you on the PCX, her on the Cub. My guess is even a guy who is "double blind" will still think her legs are nicer than yours.

Thanks for posts and photos on this thread - those Cubs are classics.

Best wishes,
Jim

We actually drag raced from a stop light. It was no contest: the extra power from the PCX and no weight difference (she's 100 pounds lighter than me so we both come out to about the same weight when mounted on bikes) meant she smoked me without even trying!

There's a 5 HP difference between the PCX and the Super Cub and it shows. But, as I said a couple of posts ago, on a steep hill, I actually do better thanks to having gears. I do okay up to 50 mph and then struggle but I have seen 60 + mph on the speedo several times. In the end, I would say the PCX is sporty and the Super Cub is laid back.

Now the Super Cub will run circles around the PCX all day.

I'll think about giving my wife more "leg room" in other pictures.

Interesting on the comparisons.

In a few months when I move to Asheville I'll have access to tons of forest service trails and was wondering how the Super Cub (or a Symba) might do.

Maybe a PCX would work?

Keep those Cub reports coming!

I ride my Symba on trails and dirt two track. Suspension travel is limited but it does fine as long as you go slowly. Stock tires are lousy in anything soft of course. I would say it is better than my passports and not quite as comfortable as my CTs but just as capable until you get into extreme climbing.

Don't fear the dirt!

I will be going to tires with a more aggressive tread when I replace the stock tires.

I would agree with this statement. I feel the Super Cub can handle a lot of things. It's a work horse, not a garage queen.

Thanks guys for the info.

Have either of you or others heard of anyone upgrading the Symba suspension?

I had one and know it doesn't work for me on the street but if I could turn it into a CT for a reasonable sum I might be interested.

I just received my toys from Japan! 2 steel top boxes! (and a t-shirt)

They look very nice. I will try and put them on tomorrow evening. They seem simple enough the attach. More info on that later.

Fuuuuuuuuccck! The t-shirt is too small! Damn Japanese sizes! (or may be I need to lose weight)

Yes but it's going to be too big for her. I think she looks nicer in tighter clothes.

You can't do much about the suspension travel but you can upgrade the rear shocks and the front springs/fork oil, go to some dirt tires and you'll have a very capable bike for trail riding. If I didn't care about street riding I would drop down two teeth on the front sprocket. First gear will be useless on the street but this change will make the bike a real stump puller.

Nooooooo! I can't attach the top box to the rack. Whatever they sent me doesn't work. It took me a few minutes to see that the rack pictured on the instructions was different from my rack. My guess is the top box mounts fit the previous Super Cub model.

I have emailed Webike. Let's see what happens. I hope they have a solution for me.

It's the 'everyday bike' look, 'workhorse' look, 'practical and functional', it's the Japanese postwar principal, make use of whatever minimal resources they have left after getting bombed back to the stone age.
