Nice riding with you Rick (and Luke) up at Rogers Camp over the weekend. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures in the D100 this year!

Scott, it was nice to meet you too, and enjoyed riding the various creeks and rivers Saturday! I don't know if I've ever been more thoroughly soaked and still had such a great time!

New Wheels for SL350

Just arrived from wheel master Paul Peroli;

While Paul had the wheels apart, he polished the hubs inside and out, they look really nice with the new rims and spokes. YeeHaw!!!

TL125 Progress

On Sunday, made great progress on the TL125. Finished the valve adjustment, checked ignition timing (it was spot on and points looked new), bolted seat and tank on, and finished rear fender install. Looking good!

Later in the afternoon, started the clutch replacement (to repair for slippage).

Draining oil;

There's always one bleeping screw that won't budge! Someone had been here before me and rounded out one of the oil filter screws, tried the impact, no go, then used a chisel to cut a straight groove, and with a little luck got @##%^&*^$ screw out!

The offending hardware;

Tried to take the crank end nut off using a drift, but with the angle required could not build enough force, so I've ordered the proper spanner socket. Until that arrives, will move on to the SL350.

On other notes, we had a fantastic trail ride a few weeks ago and are just about ready to head out for the D100. The TTR250 got a few last minute adjustments and tweeks this weekend and the motor home is as ready as we can make it. Looking forward to getting out & riding in the high desert!

D100 Prep

Luke is busy getting the mighty CBRZ-650 4 cylinder ready for the D100;

And of course, he does have help;

We were planning to haul Don's bike on the back of Nellie, but Loud Al may be cancelling, so now we are rethinking our logistics;

We leave Friday morning, more updates to follow!

TL125 progress

Got the proper spanner, and with the impact gun, the crank nut came off easily, finished disassembly and buffed all the steels, ready for assembly;

Just waiting for the new oil filter screws to arrive and then will finish up;

Those wheels are beautiful! They've gotta shave a few pounds as well.

Yes indeed, you all have a great time at the D100!

Looking forward to seeing the photos/video and hearing the stories!

TL125 & SL350 Update

The TL125 is now "finished", although still needs a bit of carb tuning. Have been riding it and it's working just "ok", but will continue to tune on it as time allows.

Last night started back in on the SL350 in earnest, in 3 weeks we will be in Crooked River and one way or the other, this bike has to run better than it did last year.

First step was to get it running, started by draining all old fuel and putting in fresh;

With fresh gas it fired right up and sounded great. Next step was to check system voltage, to ensure that a lack of voltage to coils was not causing the tuning issues.

Voltage at idle;

Voltage at free rev approximatley 6,000 rpm;

I think it is safe to say we don't need to add a battery to the system.

Next step is very thorough and complete tune up and valve adjust and installation of the Dime City jetting kit which includes different needles.

Fingers crossed!

PS; we had a fine time at the D100, with all our riders completing all events without major breakdown or injury!

The TL125 looks great Rick!

Glad to hear you all had an awesome time at the D100 as well.

If for any reason you don't get your fill of vintage trials at the Steel Stampede, there's also AHRMA trials on Saturday, June 14th during the Marymont Vintage Motorcycle Week, which runs from June 9th-15th:

It's always a heck of a vintage bike show. Lots of awesome vintage race bikes of all varieties... oh, and an OK car museum.
