Easter Weekend 1 day Ride/recce Imbil/Kilkivan

Right,

So I am keen as for an all day ride up towards Widgee/ Kilkivan Area over the Easter weekend, probably Saturday.

Distance for day the could be up to 5-600k, start early, finish err, late arvo early evening. bit of exploring up near the old gold mine, scoot over to the copper smelter, hoon around Kandanga/Imbil SF, explore, get lost and find cool tracks.

I will have 300k fuel range, planned stops at Diagular, Imbil and Kilkivan. Carrying an oregon 550 gps with a bunch of tracks loaded

Meet @ Diagular Matlida approx 7am for 7:15 departure.

edit:

rough plan - Diagular to Kenilworth via glasshouse/bellthorpe possibly thru the back of woodfordia area and link up with bellthorpe west rd via the nice steep hill, onto kenilworth via grigor rd / fuel if needed in Kenilworth. cruise to imbil via SF on the rally section from last year going past Parklands MX... Maybe cut a lap

From Imbil up thru Amamoor/Kandanga via either Stirling rd And the sweet track before the range begins OR Ward rd and onto Galangowan. From there planning to check out the old open cut mine I found on another ride last year If time is short skip Kilikvan Smelter and begin the return leg home via Kilcoy Murgon rd across to Elginvale and maybe link to east branch rd and home from there. if time is really short I'll just hit good ol Monsildale off Kilcoy/murgon.

Anyone keen to join?

Lizard.

What, like I might need some "assistance" Are you offering to follow me and wait for bolts to fall out, run out of fuel, give me a push start..... Maybe you're right although I have had a couple of rides since that faux pas

How as Mt Mee on the weekend? wet & slippy? Would've joined you but busy working dammit.

Wasca, be good to catch up again mate!

You could definitely be needing the headlight

Well not planning on too late but if we have some err, mishaps or the tour leader goes off on a tangent, then it is on the cards

Plus the darkness will fall a little earlier by then too.

I am interested, although not convinced my knee would allow me a full day yet, plus I would probably be too slow for you lads at the moment. I'll wing it, see how I am closer to the day.

I will try and get a gps route of sorts together for the ride and share it with anyone who wants it. it'll have a combination of my tracks, some of Elponkins good routes and maybe a few other hijacked ones. If anyone has some from Imbil SF or Widgee/Amamoor they don't mind sharing that would be good.

I reckon you will need your lights unless you keep up a good pace and not much stop time.

Yep

The last time I rode to Kilkivan I did it in about 12hrs 600 plus ks door to door, by myself & pretty much everywhere north of the GG fire tower was exploration, ie, ride up track following GPS, track disappears contemplate options, keep going anyway got way lost near Blacksnake/northern end of Wrattens and found the open cut mine full of water ( not Shamrock mine), cut thru some blokes front yard south of the smelter, steep rocky shit in there and locked gates.... ie skull dragging my Husky under barbed wire fences.

Imbil servo had run out of fuel too, Bloody Boaties sucked it dry, had to Hot foot on the slab to Kenilworth BP which was not my intended route.

Probably my fav ride.

who's still in?????

Oh, still working on the gps and need to prerun the bellthorpe bit maybe this weekend to check the route is all good.
