Those are the BMW side cases and the BMW Softbag 2 on top. I got a bunch of camping gear for my first camp & ride and was figuring out if it would fit on the bike:

I managed to pack the sleeping pad, pillow and tent (minus poles) inside the left case, the sleeping bag inside the right case and the cot and chair (tent poles inside the chair bag) across the seat tied down to the cases with Rokstraps, which I just discovered and are absolutely fantastic!

Looks like those BMW bags will hold a good bit. I have the same TOP bag but with the VARIO Panniers (look good but a bit small).

Anyway, Sure is quite a load - I know you didn't ask, but you could consider lightening up the load a bit With the Go-Kot http://www.campingcot.com/ or a chair like the REI Flex Lite or the Helinox.

Thanks for the pics, see you at camp

I am going through the noob process of getting camping gear. I like the stuff that I got and it was cheap ($190 for 4-person tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, cot and inflatable pillow) but it is made for camping out of a car/truck: It is very heavy and over-sized.

Thanks for the recommendations. Both the cot and chair look like the ideal small/light options.

See you at Pachaug

BMW bag photo, the thing is huge and BMW quality, you can't go wrong. Plus no additional expense on a mounting rack.

Does it hang over the edge of the bike much, or move around at speed? I'm thinking of selling the panniers, and just using this, as I only use the panniers a couple of times a year.

Other than a pelican case, can anyone recommend me a small hard waterproof day case to put on the rear rack? Has to be much smaller than a top box, just needs to fit spare gloves, drink, sandwiches in!

Obviously, this is in addition to the large BMW softbag, which will only be used for long trips.

The Helinox chair is flat out awesome. I weigh 235 and it holds me nicely, great lean angle and is sturdy as they come, I almost fell asleep in it the other evening. Get's pretty small too.

But yes, I took care of making it fit in the right position.
That was actually one of my main concerns as I made the adaption.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of Jesse's for my soon to arrive GSA WC. What would you recommend - the Safari's or the Odysee"s? I don't see a huge difference in the pics, but may be I don't know what to look for??

I am still seeking conformation that they will fit on the OEM racks.
