GSAW - hot leg!

California has been hot the last few days and I have noticed that there is a noticeable amount of heat on the right hand side.

It is particularity noticeable when travelling at speed and then slowing a little, I am assuming it related to the airflow.

I have Zega Pros which were also on the GSW I had last year and I never had a issue and I rode in some very high temps.

Anyone else noticed this?

Thanks

Only the right side radiator has a fan and it has to blow somewhere.

It feels like it is coming from underneath rather than being blown along from the cooling fan.

Ride a KTM 1190. Now THAT has heat issues.

I noticed it on my test ride last year when I was wearing jeans. I have never noticed it on my own GS as I'm generally wearing riding pants and high boots which shield much better.

But yes, there is some warm air coming from the radiator, but it's really not a big deal in my opinion. Most other bikes I have ridden were much worse.

I also noticed it on my right leg when I test rode the GSW. Only in the stop and go city traffic phase of the test ride. Not on the highway. It was noticeable, but not enough to be objectionable. Nothing like the heat that poured off a 2008 Concours I test rode.

Reversing fan

CanAm Spyder has installed a fan which reverses the airflow when stopped to keep the heat away from rider. Maybe take a look and see if it is adaptable?

So today with temps over 85F it was quite noticeable wearing my jeans under my right thigh.

Mainly got hot when slowing down a little at speed, say 85 to 80, however after a fast section I parked and the right side of the seat was hot to the touch!

Its not the fan as the engine temp was between 182-186.

The reason I am fussing about this is I rode my GSW for the last 12 months through the CA summer and never noticed any heat issues at all. The year before I had a GS oil head and rode both in temps over 100F with no issue.

Well, look at it this way. If it's a problem, based on your last post you won't have the bike long anyway.

Just kidding.

Good point but there would need to be a new GS model first!
