The " over the hill gang "

I probably ate a very unhealthy amount of dust but on the positive side my sinuses have dried up . A very enjoyable weekend with good friends and lots of riding. Thanks to all. Ken

I had many nice comments about the stickers. They came from River City Litho in St Louis. Their number is 314-733-0500. Contact Keith@rivercitylitho.com with any stickers or printing business you may have. Tell him Bill sent you from the Swinging Bridges Ride, and maybe we will have nice stickers for next year too

PM me if you didn't get your sticker, or would like another one.

Bill, Thanks!! We got kicked off the bridge by a ranger because he said SOMEONE was just ripping wheelies across it so we had to take our "Sports Show" whatever that meant somewhere else! Nice job with the wheelie by the way! Minus the fact the dust storm smoked my motor I had a great time!

The ranger told me it really wasn't the wheelies or general hooligan activity that disturbed the local campers. The orange color of the motorcycles was scaring all the fish off.

You can thank Tony K for this ride. He is The MAN who put this route together originally. The rest of us are just carrying on his legacy and addin' some holliganism.

Thanks for leading the way Tony

Thanks Tony for your contribution to our sport. I come from a flat cornfield, so it means a lot to me.

I think BigDog might have the tracks. It was a one day 300 mile route starting and ending in Union.
ThumperZ,BuZZZ and others made it into today's enhanced version.

I do have the original tracks if anybody wants them------you'll have to e-mail me to get them.
bigdogadventures@gmail.com
There are 2 SB's on that file that have never been on the route------ever.

It started at Tony's house----it is completely different than the route now.
The route was all in Tony's head if I recall----------heck, I might have been the only one with a gps ???????
But I got it recorded. There was a ferry crossing we had to go around as it wasn't running.

Another cool thing about the original ride----there's a couple bridges we rode across that are gone now.

Another thing----there is at least one other SB I know of that has never been on the route---built by the same guy back in 1910---it's still standing---but is has been downgraded to a walking bridge. Actually I think there are 2.
Both are on the original gps file I have.

Here are the coordinates for them--they are near the lake of the ozarks.
Somebody get over there and check them out. It's been many years since I saw them.
Edit:---I just looked on google earth--they are both still there and one is open to traffic.

N38 14.661"
W93 23.285"

And

N38 03.908"
W92 54.621"

Sorry I missed this years ride----I was out in Utah for a few weeks.

I was snickering at the tiny photo's on the first SBR ride on my website-----that was way back in dial-up days ----------and it was forbidden to post large pictures.

There were some newer ride pictures at the bottom of the page.

I was down in the Texas Hill country earlier this year (during the Midwest winter freeze) and found 2 swinging bridges---one still open to traffic.
I think you all will like these photos. I have the coordinates if anybody wants them.

BigDog

What was weird---it had the exact same cable construction as the bridges in Missouri ?????

And the other one---I had a waypoint for the first one-----the other I just luckily ran across.
