UK riders, help please with this style motorbike carrier.

Hi all, I'm looking at buying a motorbike carrier that suspends off the towbar on the back of my VW kombi '83 model (T25/T3). Trouble is I have the old tongue style towbar not the modern 2" square receptor Reece type tow hitch that all the motorbike carriers rely on. I live in Sydney Australia and have Yamaha wr250r that weighs in at 134 kg wet.

However, after much searching on the net, there is a mob in New Zealand (and closer to me) that make something that exactly fits my needs and is very similar or identical to one made in England by

It's a style where you have to lift the bike on. If anyone has any feedback on this type of carrier I'd appreciate the feedback. I've placed this on the NZ regional forum too but no bites yet.

Thank in advance, John.

I haven't got one myself but have you aslo looked at or asked a company over here called Dave Cooper ?

They make and sell 'clip on' racks and trailers, etc.

Might be worth a look....I'm sure they must have a website.

EDIT....just had a quick Google for ya....this any good at all ???

I'd only waste my money if I didn`t spend it on all my bikes......

I have one that was given to me it bolts onto the flat plate that the ball hitch mounts to. It was a car one and I tried it on the 4x4 rather unsuccessfully. There was too much flex no matter how hard I strapped the bike down so the bars were going to go thru the rear window. The bike was only an exc200 so not exactly heavy. I have seen them used for trials bikes they are lighter and a different shape I guess. I think you would need a camper specific one that bolts to the bumper mounts? for example

Thanks for that guys, I rang the mob in NZ and asked for photos of the towbar. They're going to check the suitability for my wr. Herman, an inmate from NZ suggested a roof - rack to tie off the bike to prevent the swaying. As you've described your old carrier, it sounds like exactly the same style carrier this NZ company make.
Thanks again guys, John.
