My dog hated riding in the canoe until I threw a foam sleeping mat down on the bottom. He needed some traction rather than sliding around and the added insulation probably helped too.

I guess my dog likes boating 2 up since that is what it looks like in the kayak. Was fine when he was little but now he is a 80# beast that loves to jump from the boat into the water then try to climb back in.

Yup, traction is the ticket. DW, that looks like a perfect nutria bounty hunting canoe - only need to kill 20 of the suckers to pay for it!
