There are some long sections where you will literally be 6" from sliding/falling down 60-70'.

I wish you happy trails, but maybe do a little more research first so you know what you're getting in to. :-)

Thanks for the info Rave. It sounds more like a hillclimb than trail. How do the smaller bikes even get through it? I will go back and review your posts and watch videos.

EC, I received the files. Thanks for sending them out and putting this together. I have not played on it yet, but it looks to be another interesting way of traveling along the Appalachians. Together with the Trans-eastern Trail, I don't think there is much of an excuse to ever see slab between New England and the deep south.

Just curious but has anyone had any issues viewing the full tracks in Basecamp. FWIW I'm opening the files in Basecamp and using a Zumo 350. The various tracks aren't connecting like they did in the previous version of the file. In most cases it's pretty easy to see how to connect them but there are a few that have multiple ways to link the tracks.

EC is this the way it was designed to eliminate the number of points or am I just doing something wrong?

Should not be much of a difference. I did add some alternates - but it should be clear what is what. Try opening the GDB file with the word raw in if you can.

All is good. As usual it was operator error. I suck at ride reports but expect one at the end of the month.

We are hurt and offended that you were this close and didn't stop by. You can make it right by stopping in next time and introducing the new bride.

Try MotionX GPS. Predownload the topo maps before you leave home (free). The app can also broadcast your position/updates to a distro list once it touches a cell tower. Not a bad idea if you're flying solo. Many other intuitive functions embedded as well. I think the pay version is about $6-7. Well worth very cent.

PM me if you have any questions otherwise just hit up the App Store. IMO, it's one of the best out there.

(I should probably clarify this- Using your iPhone assumes you have a pretty good understanding already of tracks vs routes, gdb vs gpx, how to combine multiple tracks into one using Basecamp, etc. If you know this, use the iPhone. If you don't, you'll be overwhelmed quickly.)
