You are exactly correct, he's got it packed weird and way too tall. The Hemisphere has many advantages over my original Coyote design and especially over the current mutation of that. Beyond the obvious (being able to remove the main compartment completely, waterproof, etc.) the shape is significantly improved. Carries the load much lower and is deeper fore to aft, plus the exterior stash pockets.

it is packed to capacity with as much as will go in it and still roll closed well. i knew i would take the main bag off for the trail ride and leave it at camp. of course with better packing discipline you could take less gear and it would pack lower more like a GL. i did have plenty of seat.

in addition, the tent is up high in the back like that because i burnt a hole on the exhaust in my other tent putting it down low on the fender. i put that down to my own error. i will put a rack and another heat shield on the muffler to prevent that in the future.

on another note, i tested the waterproofness quite well. the bag sat in the rain for 4 hours while i was at work and also experienced a 15 minute episode of pouring rain while riding and everything stayed dry of course.

I was heading out to pick up some parts for the bikes to finish getting ready for our month long trip. Had just put my helmet on when Fed Ex pulls up with a package from AltRider!
I didn't waste any time opening up the box and ripping the old worn out Coyote off the bike.
I've only had the saddlebags for a hour so the only assessment I have is for errand running.
A bunch of small parts in one side and a gallon of oil in the other. No zippers to mess with, just throw everything in and cinch it down.

They'll get the full month long Xcountry test starting next week!

Any more news on purchasing this without the waterproof liner? I think I would much prefer having another duffel bag strapped on the back of the bike.

Rant if you want, or unfuck the BS. I'll bow out gracefully, and in all likeliness be ordering one of the hemisphere holster setups, really slick bit of kit if you ask me.
wow dude, I didn't read it like that at all. Wachs is saying he's improved on HIS original design.

Wow, I totally agree with RAZR. Cool off dude! Dave is just saying he's made improvements on "HIS" original design. He's not bashing G-Loop. The Coyote/Great Basin system is still good. The Hemisphere is just worlds better IMHO. Nuff said!

I agree. New company and the original designer moves the product forward. Nothing wrong with pointing that out.

Has anyone tried to mount the hemisphere saddlebags to something like the KTM 690 Duke. I'm having impure thoughts on my next sport touring rig.

Hemis

There will be a ride report of this and the previous weeks' ride. Just thought I'd throw up a teaser.

Do I win the award for highest elevation?

On day 11 of a 30 day trip. Very, very happy with the saddlebags, huge improvement over my Giant Loop Coyote.

I'll give my full opinion of the bag when I'm done with my trip.
