She is on the way!! Black Sea or Bust - 950 Adv

My old Katoom is loading up on a sea container this week and heading to the EU for a trip from Germany to the Black Sea and all sites in between. Should be a fun trip.

Friends in Europe, say hi if you see a USA plated bike later in the summer!

Nice! what a trip!
Make sure you arrive in the Black Sea from the west, not from the north...

Best wishes on your trip! If you have a chance I highly recommend you to take a ride on the Adriatic Highway in Croatia, that is considered to be one of the most beautiful and dangerous roads in the world. About the dangerous I don't know, because when I rode it there was little traffic. It might only be dangerous because of the distraction from the stunning views thrown at one all the time.

Good road and nice whether!!
If you have planned to go through Serbia, just send a message and it will be pleasure to welcome you in Belgrade. We could ride together by Danube river till Romania.
Anyhow, enjoy!!!

Gents
Thanks for all the well wishes. it will be a fun trip. I have ridden Austria and Romania before so we have a decent idea what to expect. Looking forward to the photo at the Black Sea.

Also, thank for the cool decals Orangcicle a few years back.

And to the Gent who asked about shipping costs.. From the port of NYC to Germany, it is $645 and then I am paying a guy to cover the document fees and transport the bike to Stuttgart Germany so I can pick it up after landing in Frankfurt. I am budgeting $1000-1200 each way via ocean including insurance. Based on 6 previous tours where I rented in Frankfurt (mostly BMW bikes) this will be slightly cheaper for 16days but even if it was slightly over, I prefer to ride my own KTM for 100 reasons including.. it is pre-scratched and I can relax a bit when riding or parking it. I had a buddy who thought he would save money by renting until he dropped the bike (oops).

The breakeven point on renting vs shipping (aside from my liking my own bike better) is around 12-13 days (BIG IF) you happen to live near a departure port in the US (Miami, NY, LA, Houston, etc) and you rent a typical rental bike like a BMW K12GT, BMW R1150RT, etc. Any longer than 13 days and it becomes dead even on the cost to ship if you dont' mind being without your bike here in the US for the entire summer. I have more than one bike so I don't mind the Orange Pig being gone.

Cheers boys.
