IRC TR8 Battle Rally - fit a 2013 990 Adv?

This is the spec sheet:

Brand IRC
Front / Rear
Tire Size 3.00-21, 4.50-18

Does anyone know if the width of 3.00 for front and 4.5 rear is the rim width or the width of the tread? In other words, will it fit the standard 990 Adventure rims?

Thanks

Thumbs down I don't think that's a good idea

Inch spec'd tires are typically not even belted. I haven't checked on this specific tire, but I recommend that you do so. I think that a 500 lb 9x0 is too heavy to ride on non-belted tires.

This is in addition to the fact that both of those tires are about 25 percent narrower than the stock tires. They should look pretty interesting installed on the stock rims.

I've run the IRC GP110's a few times on my Adv a few times. Wasn't any issues. The rear is spread a bit. I say go for it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm thinking I'll stay with the KBBs or maybe try the Scorpion Rally next. I like the KBBs because of the 150 rear tire - fits the rim as it should.

The KBB is a pretty good tire except for durability for me. Longest I've ever been able run one is 1800 miles.

front tr8 works great on the 990 adv... ran it on the interstate, sand trails and single track.. worked as good at the mt21 but cost less (got them from bikebandit for 52 bucks shipped)

rear is to skinny, mitas e07 was nice out back and mefo explorer would be other good all around choice...

I've ran the front with no problems. Not sure of its speed rating so maybe check that out before blasting down the highway. I wouldn'tgo below 30 psi either. Not a super stout tire.

Rear I would think is too skinny. A bunch of options for you to mix with front.

Around 2k miles of mixed riding here. I took it off for long road trip. The tread looked good with no real cupping. The tire was given to a buddy recently who needed a better front. He will probably be using it for a Baja run in a week so will report back after that beating.

Thanks. Think I will try a front on the 990 for Mexico trip--2500 miles, 200 or less dirt in Copper Canyon area.

I run TR8 on the front of my 990 all the time my favorite tire. Never had a problem on interstate or in the dirt.

Rode all through Mexico to Belize and back on a TR8 see just page one of my trip:

to this day it's the only tire I run on the front of my 990.
