Unbelievable writing skills, and thank you for explaining us with so much detail everything, and of course that I am subscribed to learn more about this awesome adventure!

I wish I had the time, money and skills to enter a Dakar, and if I had, I would rent one of these bikes, as getting to the end of the race would "only" depend on the rider!!!

1200 Super Tenere rally bike

Roll back a bit?
Did you say that David Fretigne rode the Hellas Rally on a 1200 Super Tenere?
Tell us more?

Yes - as you can see from the photo/s Gezwindespoed posted above, Fretigne was on a 1200 Super Tenere, with a few mods, but that is still a HUGE bike whichever way you look at it!

It really does show the caliber of top Dakar/rally riders when they can pretty much ride anything and it not incumber them... that said, he did come a cropper on Day 2 in the deeper river crossings:

And by the time I arrived, he'd been there for over 2 hours trying to dry out the bike and get it going again after drowning it... can you imagine trying to strip down a Super Ten' at the side of the river with just pocket tools?!

Actually I have a little story around that situation: While I understand Fretigne finally got his bike going again after about 3 hours, his team-mate #7 Fredrico Zercher was not so lucky...

I was on the other side of the river, next to Fredrico who had also drowned his bike (an EFi WR450F) earlier in the morning, and he told me that he'd watched Fretigne drown the Tenere as he came past... Fredrico had also been there for a couple of hours trying to restart his own bike, and I helped him try and jump start it (presumably the EFi/fuel pump needed power) from the mighty mothership that is the LC4-50, but to no avail...

Fredrico asked if he could hold onto my jump cables and would give them back at the end of the day... I was a little hesitant, as with no kick-starter myself, it's the only way to get an LC4 started of course... but the poor guy was desperate to get going again, so I left him to it and carried on with the rest of the stage/day...

I was a bit miffed when he hadn't returned the leads to the Torque Racing tent as we'd agreed, but let it slide for a couple of days - then looked on the starting list to see if I could find out which team he was on (I'd forgotten to note his race number) only to find he was showing on the withdrawn list after that day.

Happe offered to drop by their pit to remind them to return the cables... and sure enough, at the end of the rally, Fredrico came by our pit and apologised for the delay - understandable really, he was on crutches with his leg in plaster!

Turns out that after he finally got his drowned bike going again that day, just 30kms later he fired off the edge of an embankment and totalled his bike, braking his leg in the process. A day he would rather forget I'm sure.

Do not worry about that, once (Tuareg 2010 Enduropath) I had a prtially blocked injector and I had to restart more than 10x after each other. Battery was still not complaining. I was still running the same battery afte 30.000km and 4.5 years. The (original) battery of the 690 has a lot of spare capacity.

Isn't Fredrico running on the Rebel Rally team headed up by none other than Manny Luchesse?

Just a quick heads-up... I've totally revamped the Jennydakar.com website these past few days, and I hope you'll like the new look and content:

www.jennydakar.com

There are links to the associated Facebook and Twitter pages, plus back to this blog here on ADVrider of course - please do subscribe/like/follow etc. to get the very latest campaign information...

Hopefully I will have some tasty new 'Jennydakar' and also LC4-50/Dakar 2015 Team merchandise available via the web-shop soon - and we hope to be able to announce our fellow LC4-50 riders in the very near future too!

Watch this space as they say!

Jenny xx
