Can someone tell me a little about the beginner's loop at Wambaw? I just picked up a CRF100F for my boy and we're planning on heading over there late afternoon Friday.

It's a short, medium packed practice area suited to young people just getting started. It's about the only place at Wambaw that is not sugar sand. If your son is a new rider it seems a good place to practice, but it is a small loop. The sand on the actual Wambaw trails will require some speed to maintain control. You'll either love it or hate it. I hate it but for some reason keep punishing myself (and my KLR). Friday will be a good day to head over there, Sat/ Sun may be crowded.

Thanks Ken. Yes, he is a new rider.

p.s. we met at the lunch at BBQ Grill in Ridgeland with Laura0107, Slidefighter, Motogirl25 and others. Sometime last year - rainy ride, and we chatted for a bit when we both were stopped at the same gas station on the way home. I was on a DR650.

I could ride Sunday. Otherwise maybe we could get an after-work ride together...though that would probably not be enough time to ride the HOCAT if that's what you're talking about.

Any of you willing and able to give me a tire changing class tomorrow? I got a flat on my DR a couple weeks ago and have pinched 2 tubes trying to fix it. I want someone to watch and instruct me as I do the job. I'll bring the wheel to you or you can come to my house.

I'm open all day tomorrow. Can bring a 6 pack or pizza or something if you wish.

Mellow mushroom?

I can help you for free but you might have a 3rd pinched tube. I've only had to do 1 or 2 and it sucked. But FWIW I'm here for ya. I got the tools and a compressor. Just need a rim, tire, and tube.

Bring bike and tube to Wambaw tomorrow, we'll fox it between laps. I'm in Black Ford F150, KTM 450EXC. Should be there late AM if I can motivate Brad to get moving.
843-224-2496. I keep a spare tube just in case.

I don't believe he has a trailer to bring said bike and tube to wambaw. I may be wrong.

Another Tuesday Evening Ride 7/8/14 also Wednesday

Bring $5 for the box, the trail is open 24 hours if you have lighting on your bike. I plan on riding till about 9:30 PM, then riding home to Jim Isle. Some of the controlling powers at Wambaw are considering closing the trail at night. The first time I rode Wambaw at night was in the 80's and I have put many miles on night riding since. Night is perfect for dual sporting as there is very little traffic, the weather is much cooler, and during hunting season it does not interfere with hunting (safer for the rider too). Please consider coming out to ride and see what you'll be missing. Your right to use this property is this way may soon be taken away. DONT MISS OUT.
Also Wednesday evening 7/9/14 this week

Are you sure it hasn't already been closed to night riding?
(I thought the host told me it has.)

Yup, as I thought. Big Al just responded to my text saying yes it is closed to everyone except those who are camping up there. He locks the front gate each night now.
If more people cared and bitched about it, CORRA might be able to convince them to reverse the decision.

Crap, I'm going too fast here.
He just responded again with a clarification: It is still open to night riding. The only request is that y'all need to be respectful of campers who might be sleeping.
