nothing exciting lately, just a few short local rides, here's one of them....

from 2 weeks ago. david and i rode rowher flats and did some drills

suppose to be single tracks but that's narrow enough for me....

a little downhill that is steeper than it looks

from below...yikes. not fun going down with a rekluse

finally.....

orange porn...

as we gained elevation, it got foggy

not a good sign

someone being evacuated

the next day, i found out that a teenage rider crashed on the way down on that same hill we did. he was rushed to the hospital but doa....RIP...

Agua Dulce

I lived in Agua Dulce for 11 years and this place was in my backyard! I live in Castaic now, so it's really not far at all. I did all these trails and climbs in my Jeep at one time or another.

Sidebar: About that teenager. I wonder what he was riding, etc. ? Sad. I have been up that hill so many times.

What a shame. RIP young biker.

Looks like fun Joel. I cleared trail and rode with Chris Horgan from Stewards of the Sequioa yesterday. I have not worked that hard in quite a while.
Check out Chris on the cover of American Motorcyclist (AMA magazine) for March. He is one stand up guy a skilled singletrack rider.

Got out to another amazing riding area of CA last weekend. Arnie Fry put out an invite and John (catalina38) and I headed down to Butterfield Ranch and took part in the 11th annual SDAR Desert Dash. Two days of riding covering almost 300 miles of every possible terrain. Unfortunately, John got a puncture in his radiator and his day 1 was called short at lunch. No fix for his injured 500 in camp so we headed home Sunday and didn't ride Day 2.

This is a big time ride and it was no surprise to see lots of LAB2V numbers on lots of bikes. Great peeps and great riding. For sure on my calendar for next year.

Here's a pic of my little girls bike along with Arnie's at the end of the trail on Day 1.

2014 Summer Central Coast Ride

so far, this is the longest distance in 2 days of riding. put @ 800 miles and with lots of new routes and stunning landscapes.

right after work, dave (pinocono) and i met at castaic at 5pm, waited for rich for a little while until i got a text that he will catch up along the way. we proceed to frazier park to meet johnny at the MAILBOXES on cuddy valley. we waited a little more for rich, and more until finally he showed up at 6:30pm. i will not let him get off the hook easily. anyway, no problem, he will return the favor in the future.

fun road on the way to carrizo. now, it's hudson ranch road, formerly cerro norroeste.

our usual gas stop at maricopa

summer season when price of gas goes up

then to elkhorn grade on our way to soda lake road

i tried my best to keep the dust only on one side of the road

johnny took us across the plains and some fun hill climbs to soda lake road

portions of soda lake rd is still asphalt...8(

we made it to the KCL campground with still some daylight left but warm

jim reserved us great spots next to the trees with plenty of shade. think i camp here at the same spot 2 years ago.

johnny didn't mess around, "when he travels he takes a wok"...hahaha....always good eats!

chris and jim have their big meat on the grill.

pity the poor me

after dinner, some social time and interaction of bright minds

living in los angeles, we don't get to see stars, except the ones in hollywood. took this one using a 60 seconds shutter speed and f1.8. i was expecting nicer result.

it was past 12:30 am when i dozed off. i was tired but had a good day!

next morning, the pesky birds rudely ruined my sleep. we were hoping to stay in bed until 8am, but had no choice and get up at 6, sheez, that was early.

at least there's the good consolation of seeing um the rising sun inside my $99, 1-P, 3-season tent.

the view of the plains

we were all ready to roll by 8am, but word is out that there are 2 more riders joining us, so we waited until after 9 and eventually we gave up.

on hw58 to pozo

dave on pozo rd

johnny

ultra classic LWB 2D TLC WGN with snorkel and winch....that is worth something!

at this junction, it was a toss up to go pozo saloon or parkhill. we did the saloon many times and we never been to parkhill, so right it is.

parkhill rd is a good one if going north, which is our plan. came out on the 58 and turned right, road for about a mile then left on webster rd (229?). that is one nice road too and took us to hw 41, then to atascadero.

lunch at denny's, ben and his new SE met us there

damado and wife were able to catch up with us as well

will post more later.
