Yes, I tried out the Yamaha last summer when I was riding the TX hill country. I liked it, but the KTM seems to have better technology for safety.

I was told that same thing by the two big dealers here, the one in Denver and Colorado Springs. Both said that there were none available.

I ended up calling Elite KTM in Loveland, because I was really just looking for a test ride on the 1190 Adventure, after testing the R down in CO Springs. The owner of Elite has a 2013. They happened to have just received 2 Adventures and 1 or 2 R's from a dealer on the East Coast the Saturday I called. I ran down to have a test ride on Tuesday AM and the rest is history.

Long story short, keep calling, including some of the smaller dealers like Elite. You may find that they have gotten one in from elsewhere.

Downside is, they won't do much for you on a trade. They sell KTM's only and about the only thing they will do on your current bike is put out a "buy order," to see if any other dealers have interest. Your best bet would be a private sale or consign it.

Looks as if a buy in Chicagoland is going to be necessary

The shaft and HUGE service intervals and YAMAHA'S proven build quality, you ever try the Tenere? If you set on the 1190 stay away from the 2013...UNLESS the dealer can show you ALL warranies issue done and you want an uni filter fitted...then you have a '2014' bike.

Sure enough, here in the land of boring straight roads, totally flat terrain, and 95 percent H-D bikes with helmet-free riders, a local dealer is trying to sell me a new 2014 1190 ADV, and offering a nice discount, PLUS a fair trade-in figure for my ST1100.

Totally different from Colorado, where I'm going.

They're about out of them out there, and no deals, and no trade for my Honda.

Speaking of which, anybody seen the Honda V4 1200 they dub the VFR1200X, with its Honda luggage, etc?
