Whatever you think about that, they were given no breaks for the AMA Superbike podiums they achieved in 2012.

Now you're just being silly...

Everything but the current Bimota you listed were not really what anyone would call successful. Gobert's Bimota win was a serious fluke.
The first year Aprilia ran the RSV twin wasn't much to write home about either. BMWs first year didn't set much on fire.

Check the stats on Eslick's championship with Buell. He didn't win more races, he finished more races. Cardenas won 7 races to 'slicks 6, and Herrin's 4. Japanese brands won twice as many races a Buell did. Wouldn't a rigged rule set mean the Buell would have won more? Or more riders on Buells would have won?

The superbike results were a straight up fight.

BMW's first year in WSBK:

Manufacturer standings. Points in nearly every race, and a best finish of 5th. EBR's first year in WSBK: no points yet in any race.

EBR are massively behind, almost embarrassingly so. I like Erik Buell, he has some interesting ideas and goes against the grain, but he is ideologically committed to his design concepts. That's bad. If something isn't working, you need to change it. The brake doesn't work, it overheats, destroying any advantages from lower mass.

Larry Pegram (EBR1190) and Chris Ulrich (Honda CBR1000rr) have both announced they will be racing as Wild Card entries in WSBK at Laguna. Both are well out of the points in AMA Superbike and claim they can get more exposure for their sponsors doing the WSBK race (duh).

I predict that both will finish well out of the points in the WSBK race, too. Maybe the extra track time will pay dividends in the future, but not likely.

I wonder when Larry is going to call it quits. Seems like his racing career could be labeled an expensive hobby.

He's very good at getting sponsorship for himself. I'd like to see him expanding and helping another, younger, rider in superbike.

If someone needs to wildcard at Laguna that is Josh Hayes. I would love to see him dice it with WSBK regulars. EBR is a lost cause, I wish they didn't embarrass themselves any longer.

Listening to the commentary with "standard" brakes in testing EBR were three seconds a lap quicker. They can't run them because of homoglemation rules, but bet that changes next year. Still won't be a frontrunner, but less embarrassing.

I think Eric's gonna have to move on to tried and true if he can't make that big ring work.
I don't get why I won't work right. Seemed like a great idea when he brought it out.

For AMA this year and last you can see what they shot for http://www.fanschoice.tv/ama-pro for free. Along with dirt track :)

World Superbike, I dunno a freebie. Other than a bit torrent site.
