WWJD? What Would (Lin) Jarvis Do?

1) Tell Lorenzo the contract term is 2 years, no opt out after a year a la Crutchlow.
2) BIG pay cut, a million euros a year max.
3) To make up for 2, bigger than usual performance incentives (Podium, race wins, Championship), if JLo has a Marquez year he'll earn more than presently.

Indeed. History has shown who the better racer is and it's not even close. No Nicky hate here I think that he's a class act but facts are facts.

Nicky will be remembered long after Mr.-Second-Place-on-first-place-equipment is in the dustbin of history.
I didn't like the dour, overhyped Pedrobot before 2006 either. :lol
GO ROSSI It will thrill my heart if The Doctor relegates The Midget to third place through 2016.

Check out the list of all time winners in all Grand Prix classes. Or the list of MotoGP/500cc winners. Pedrosa ahead of schmucks like Schwantz, Rainey & Roberts. Yeah he'll be forgotten.

You are right, he will be remembered...as the guy who could win a race but never a championship. This will be Perdrosa's spot in MotoGP history.

And Nicky will be remembered as the guy with a title and only 3 wins. IN HIS CAREER!!!!

After all, it is not as though the present Ducati is short on horsepower. And there is no obvious reason why a redesigned engine should be slower.

The lure then for Lorenzo would be:

a) a pay rise;

b) undisputed team leadership;

c) the faint possibility that the bike with a year of development and control electronics could be better than the 2016 M1 with control electronics; and therefore

d) the faint possibility that he could cement his legend by doing what Rossi couldn't and winning a title or two for Ducati.

It is all a pretty big stretch. But it is all about the alternatives, and the alternative of spending the next two and a half years on the M1 chasing Marquez, while battling with Rossi for development input and forgoing a pay rise, might not look all that enticing either in Lorenzo's present frame of mind.
Give him Cal's cell number.

The Duc does not suit Jorge's riding style.

Pedrosa was an injury away from at least one motogp championship. Doesn't change the fact that he hasn't won one but he's got the wins and consistency to prove the caliber of rider he is and you can be sure the guys lining up next to him on the grid aren't thinking he's 2nd rate because he hasn't won a championship and nearly all of them can only wish they had the career he's had.

Beyond all that the guy seems to be pretty decent dude. Just low key and is not out trying to be an attention whore or blaming others or making excuses when shit doesn't go right for him. You don't see people here posting shit about him the way the do about Stoner, CC or, JLo.

I'd settle for a pay cut to $1M Euros a year!

Seriously, I would, but seriously, Lorenzo is far from done and going downhill. I think he is in some sort of slump now, but I expect him at the pointy end of the races again.

I agree. Timing and luck is a big part of it. I wasn't taking a shot at Pedroza, just stating what I truly think his place in history will be. Nicky will never again be a factor in a MotoGP race, unfortunately. Starting to wonder if any American ever will...

I dunno what you're hoping for with the kiddy insults of Pedrosa -- that he'll read this forum and get his feelings hurt? The only thing that's happening is you sucking the air out of the virtual room.
