i'm not sure about that incident. i know carpenter had been taking the high line, but he was also starting to get smoked on the high line, so it makes sense that he went lower to defend against the pass. he made a single (continuous) move (which undoubtedly got him off the hook with the stewards).

i'd like to know what his spotter told him, and i wonder if he knew how fast jpm was reeling him in.

aleshin has foyt so pissed off he's gonna get a 5 second delay every time they interview him, so i'm betting if someone gets sanctions, it's the russian.

although jpm saying "douchebag" might get him a director with a finger on the button as well.

outside of those two incidents, it was generally a good race. watching rhr move up in the last 10 laps for the win was pretty impressive. fresh tires made a world of difference.

I don't know about a suspension, but there should be some sanction. It was a block all the way down to the stripe--not a racing line.

Fun finish, too bad for Tony-- I kind of feel for the guy.

Have to say Helio's interviews have me pulling for him. He's fun.

I missed the pissed Foyt.

Iowa, may be the race I go to next year-- though I'm not an Oval guy.

Helio didn't care about losing just as long as he finished ahead of Powers.

I think if Montoya would've been about a foot more down the track they would've had to penalize Carpenter.....that was a close call for sure. I believe he intended to run low to start blocking Montoya but honestly didn't realize he was that close. Ed was pretty worried about talking to Montoya after his interview and said "I hope he doesn't kick my butt".....thought that was pretty funny.

Good race. Andretti took a gamble and it worked out well for them for the fifth straight time.

When it doesn't rain, Iowa is great. Fantastic oval racing. I can't figure out what's not to like. Close racing, passing, competitive action. And you can see the entire track from your seat.

Love it, love it, love it.

I thought Saturday's race was excellent. I guess Carpenter knew what he was doing. A real shame he did it. Surprised that IndyCar let him get away with it.

Texas Motor Speedway seems to be an odd one. I can remember seeing superbly close racing there, and also long, strung-out races.

I never saw an oval before I was 19, didn't even know they existed. I sure have come to love them, though.

Another two-race weekend again, this time from Toronto. I'm not sure I like this many of them. It's quite a commitment of time to catch them all.

Indy Car has had some great races so far in 2014, but seems the decision makers just can not catch a break. But if the pace car slides out of control in the rain and kisses the wall before the start then maybe just maybe the track isn't in condition to race on.

I laughed out loud when they said "The pace car is a lap down."

I was always a PT fan. He made it hard late in his career when his skills had diminished a little bit and he tried to hard to overcome that. But I was still a fan.

I really think he adds a lot to the telecast. Watching him abuse the pace car, with Townsend Bell onboard, was the highlight of today's coverage.

Didn't get to see the morning race, but I've always been a Jimmy Vasser fan, so I'm pleased with the result.

It was Arie Lyendyk behind the wheel. I think he knows how to drive, but the car had semi-slicks on.
