Any recommendations on roads, sights, cheap but bug-free motels? Prefer to ride gravel, so any off-the-beaten-path route suggestions welcomed.
You should PM tbirdsp or post in the west iowa/east nebraska thread. They'll get you set up.

So in less than a week, I head out on my trip to Ducati in the Rockies 2014.

I will be leaving on Tuesday afternoon and heading up to South Dakota to Casper, Wyoming then down to Denver. Then on to Ouray...

Leg 2:

Will probably be meeting up with and continuing down to Ouray with the Denver Eurotrash Motorcycle Club...

Pretty much on "I don't give a shit" mode at work now...

just got back from wyoming.

18 in iowa was a road construction mess, it's good that you're missing it. 44 in south dakota was far more enjoyable than i had anticipated, particularly where the it meets the missouri river, though it looks a bit north for your route.

I originally planned on slabbing it up to Sioux City but then remembered that 141/old 141 along the Loess Hills is pretty nice.

I rode pretty much every county in South Dakota back in late 2004 on my Ducati Monster...I was testing for cell companies up there and decided to try doing it on the motorcycle...worked better than I expected so I ran with it...plus, the Monster could fit through the doors of the tower boxes so...

Back from five days of CO single track and one day of pedaling up to Marshall pass and back. Man I hate the humidity here.

Just spent a week out there hiking and Mountain Biking, well holding on as I plummeted down hill at Winter Park, myself. 86 in Estes Park and Didn't even hardly break a sweat. Agree, was a nice change.

People who are from here, and never leave here, always ask me why I would want to move back to the mountains. For those who understand, no explanation is necessary, for those who don't, none is possible.
Those who went to CO did you know the big ADV rally was this past week? (still going on I think)

A large adventure type group rolled through where we were camped one night. They were from Quebec and doing the Divide route south to north. 1190's, 950's, GS800's and several Rally Raid 690 conversions all decked out.

Anyone going to Pie Fest next weekend?

http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=986096

I'm likely heading over from Des Moines mid-morning on Saturday and will probably camp that night.
