most of the rooms downtown will be full and expensive. within 10 mile radius there are many choices and many price ranges.

Sorry I missed this till now. Lots of cheap motels off 244, 44, or 51. None that I'd particularly recommend over another. Best of luck and safe travels.

I have decided to try and sell the KLR to get a DR650 again. I went to tulsa and set on one and fell in love. Open to trades for a dr650 or maybe a drz400. Here is a link to my add. Located in Ponca City.

Have you tried the old 97 highway from Sand Springs up toward Skiatook? Kinda twisty 2 lane blacktop with good side roads to explore, it also goes by the John Zinc Ranch. Rode alot of good enduros there in the 80's!

Apparently you can buy some kids along that road. I picked up this slightly used 12 year old kid the other day and put my old boots and jacket on him.

There's a bunch of roads out that way for exploring that are blacktop or white rock. I did a little exploring on the way out of town on the SV650 to deliver it to the new owner so they aren't too rough/technical/etc.

Hey Okies. I'm in Stillwater visiting the girl at school while on a big trip. She's busy tomorrow so I figured I'd go find some dirt to ride in. Any suggestions? I prefer easier stuff to go with my lack of dirt experience.

Riding a DR650 with Shinko 700s.

You might check out the OAT:

Here's another site with some links to the various sections. The Perry to Cleveland section isn't far from Stillwater. That's a pretty nice (and easy) ride.

Nothing to exciting.....just go explore......watch for oilfield trucks....remember most of the roads here are by mile sections....run mostly east/west or north/south

I did the suggested section of the OAT, only in reverse. Once I hit 177 I took that back up to Stillwater. It was a lot of fun, definitely a different kind of riding I get back home. Love that red dirt.

Thanks for the recommend!
