You should contact the Government and ask what is taking so long.

I don't know how it got here, but there is a Mexican made, 2004 VW Beetle running around 100 Mile House. It only has 27k original kms on it and it is actually for sale for $10.5K

There are loopholes for everything.

Miac can bring in pretty much any new motorcycle from anywhere in the world if you pay them the $1000 for the paperwork.

For cars, another trick I've seen a lot is on land rover defenders. Get an old chassis and put all the new parts on it. Bam, brand new but 15 years old at the same time. I bet the beetle was something similar.

But I'm hoping when this law comes into force loopholes won't be necessary.
Or yamaha (or honda Africa twin) comes with a mid size adventure bike before I get the Mexican bike.

It came in under the witness protection program - the VIN was swapped to a 1960s beetle...

There are. And there are lots of provincially registered not-15-years-old vehicles from South of the Border running around through some of the loopholes There's a verrra nice Ford Ranger diesel scooting around southern BC that I'm lusting over.

But every now and then Transport Canada finds out. And without any warning, shows up, siezes the vehicles, and sends them to the crusher. No appeal procedures, no advance notice, and you don't get any compensation either.

All it takes is one jealous person to squeal on you

Where are you getting your price from? The bike is 146,900.00 peso's, according to my google-fu, that's $12,261.11 Canadian before any freight PDI or tax... Assuming you pay no taxes in Mexico, you will still have to pay GST on that, and PST/HST depending on your province.
