Thanks for sharing your story, and I hope the trip goes great for you. It'll certainly be a memorable one.

Yeah.
This is good.

I'm real sorry for your loss.
It's got to be tough, but be sure to stop at all the nice view spots, and have a great trip.

We have some common history . i called my bike a Honda 55 similar to the one you describe .when i was 14 i bought a xl100 honda i sold it to buy a larger street bike and my mom would not let me as long as i lived at home with her . So when i was 26 i bought a vfr750 Honda after i moved away from home took my mom for a ride on it once did a small wheelie with the extra weight on the back it was hard not to and my mom is in a box at my sister's too.Awaiting a trip to her final resting place thanks for the inspirational story my condolences for your loss .

Leaving out in a little less than an hour. I have a friend who is gonna ride with my. My youngest son came over and spent some time here and got a little emotional, his grandma died while he was away. He has turned into a fine young man and I am proud of him. I am blessed. I was running around in circles til I made myself sit down and just chill. If you read this during the night, say a little prayer for my friend and I as we motor on thru the night.

Great story with a wonderful purpose. Your mother will be thrilled you have on clean underwear and she does not have helmet hair.

Made it there and back

I will try to tie up a couple of loose ends. The day before I left, I got a call from a friend of mine asking if he could ride with me there. I said sure come on, We were planning to leave out about 1 am on Thursday morning. Since alot of this riding was gonna be during the night time hours, I put some cheap LED driving lights on my bike. Well when my friend got to my house, I cranked up my bike, my headlight flashed once, and went dark, no brights either, so my friend ended up being the headlight for all of the night riding because the cheap lights looked bright, but didn't give near enough light to see by.

Cut to the chase, we made it to the Tail of the Dragon, rode it twice, We were 2 tired out guys, really tired out. Got up the next morning to head the last 3 or 4 hrs over to my mom's home to scatter her ashes. We arrived without any problems. So my friend just stepped aside and gave me some time, yes it was pretty intense emotions, as this was Mom. The place looked like she had just left it, kinda odd, nobody had messed with anything. So after I scattered her ashes, I made a call to my mom's sister in law, whom I have only talked to once before. So you have heard the saying : "It's better to plead for forgiveness than to ask for permission". This was the case as I didn't tell her about my plans. Come to find out my mom's husband's ashes had been scattered there a few months ago, so now they are together again, all is well. I feel closure and I know all the stars aligned for this to happen. I also feel that this was the way she would have wanted it to be, except the motorcycle ride, but hey, what is she gonna do? I know it's gonna be alright.

My friend and I made it back home without any issues, 2k in 2 days, our butts are dragging. I will post up a few pics after this update as I have not figured out the tapatalk settings

It's very good of you to take your Mom to her final resting place and it's great that she is with her husband once again. I'm sure it wasn't easy for you.

A few months back I did a memorial ride for my Nephew working on that closure thing. It was very hard and emotional ride.

There is no doubt you doing a ride with your Mom had to be hard for you too. I hope you were able to focus on happy times during that ride.
