Alaska Questions?...............

Can anyone help with these Alaska questions? I’m planning a trip to Alaska with my wife next year. My plan is to take my van conversion up the inside passage on ferries with our dirt bikes in tow. The thought is that we would find spots along the way to stage and do some exploring on our motorcycles along the way. I ride a street legal DRZ400 and she rides a crf230 which does not have a license. Ok, I’m getting to the question…..How much non-highway riding is there? Can we explore the area on our dirt bikes? Is the local law enforcement very tight with riding on dirt roads? For example, when we went to Utah the local police were very loose about us riding on the streets when we came out of the hills from the Paiute ATV trail system. Any thoughts on this topic? Any sources on riding information?
