a little robbery on the way to los mochas

Last Saturday at the Iron Horse BMW shop in Tucson I ran into one of two local southeastern Arizona riders that had just come back from a Mexico trip. The route was Batopilas to Los Mochis and the ferry to La Pas and up Baja.

In Copper Canyon between Batopilas and the lake ferry, closer to the ferry, they went through the typical army checkpoint. Within one mile past the checkpoint they were fired on by a bandito with an ar15, two others with ak47s then appeared. They said that rounds were hitting the rocks around the first rider. Both riders were not injured although one was roughed up a little. Total cost $600.00.

I believe the route was the same as the one Jim Hyde's Rawhyde group did last October, but in the opposite direction. Both riders finished their planned trip.

I guess you might say they got a real adventure ride. Alls well that ends well. Remember to carry a muggers wallet on your trips.
