Anybody in Fairbanks willing to lend a hand?
I'm doing Alaska this summer and am doing most of the trip on tourances on my GS, but was thinking about shipping some TKCs up ahead and swapping them out for the haul road.
Any Advriders in Fairbanks willing to accept a UPS shipment for me? I've got some TKCs that have about 2k miles on them and think that 1000 miles on the Dalton Highway will be a fitting end to them.
I thought about taking them with me, but, really, that's a bit of a pain. I suppose I could buy them along the way, but why if I've got a usable set?
If you'd be willing to hold 'em for me, I'd sincerely appreciate it. Or if you could recommend a shop where I could ship them and then be in and out - I know about George (I think that's his name) - the BMW guy in Fairbanks and it sounds as if he's always swamped. I know there are other shops in Fairbanks, just don't know who/where/etc.
Also, advice from Alaskans appreciated - how big a deal is it doing the Dalton with tourances? I know plenty of people do it - but I figure if its not too complicated to arrange for the TKCs then it'll be a better ride.
thanks - danbrew
