New York State (Very short)

This is a ride report, but it wasn't a great adventure.

Maybe it should have gone in "show me your home town in 10 pics or less" but I had more than ten pics.

Maybe it should be in the R100GSPD Appreciation/Obsession forum. Where is that forum?

I dont know -- but I rebuilt my carbs- "the brothers Bing" as I heard Mutineer say, and they needed to breathe.

I live on the West side of the Hudson River, and decided my goal would be to try an get to the where New York, Conneticut and Massachusettes meet. This would also be a test flight for my proposed Circumnavigation of New York State ride.

First- I needed to stop in Poughkeepsie-just errands- It may be a day off, but I still got stuff to do--Mid Hudson Bridge:

A quick cruise from there up the Salt Point Turnpike to the Taconic State Pkwy North.
To Gallatin:

I grew up all over the area I just traversed. Dont live over here anymore, and its funny to see how it all changes. Getting very built up.
Course I say that, and this is what I mean:

Ouch. I have done about 80 miles, so far, and hit reserve about 30 ago so I fill up. Would like to see if I get any better mileage out of the Brothers.

Copake, NY and I'm gettting pretty close to the goal:

GPS takes me a little north of target, and into Massachusettes. Just inside the border, fimds me here:

I'm the only one about.

Walked down to the stream that feeds Bash Bish falls and ate lunch. Running Clear and green like glacier water. BBrrr..

Soldiering On: A little further south brings me to the Massachusettes/Connecticut Border.
Mass on this side:

Conn this:

And this sign, pointing me Right, to my intended destination:

Man, If I could get to Salisbury in 6 and a half miles from here, I'd be home Quick!

Even the GPS says its doable. I'm thinking "I could take it"

Ah. I better not. dont want to give the concrete a some kind of inferiority complex.

Thats ok. I can still find an interesting way home. I really love it out here. the trees, rolling hills, the way the rocks poke out of the ground. Its all really incredibly beautiful, in a way that 6 megapixels and lousy photography can never capture.
It'd be Good Livin out here.

Reentering NYS:

Wound my way down Rt 22 through the town of Northeast,

and Millerton,

and out over near Kildonan School:

and saw a whole slew of really awesome barns. This one's closer to Rhinebeck:

and finally (finally) two totally crap views of the Hudson River, the first looking North, and the second, South, while riding over the Kingston Rhinecliff Bridge. West towards home.

so there you go. A brief tour of whats near my home.
Thanks for coming.
See you out there.

Jason

Used to be my stomping grounds, before I moved to the West Coast. Looking at this makes me nostalgic.

I bet the names are familiar, but I barely recognized it myself. Times they are a changing.
