SA ADV Riders "Bakery Trail"
It is our aim to make the inaugural "SA ADV Riders" meeting a screaming success at Melrose in the Southern Flinders Ranges on 19th May 2007. Everyone is fully focussed on the importance of the preparation & training involved. With the first "Practice Drinking Session" now under our belt, it was now time to endure a first "Practice Ride". Gold finger (bun) suggested a "Bakery Trail", so we got a few "basket cases" together with their bikes ![]() and departed Normanville Bakery at 11.30 am. for a loaf around the Fleurieu Peninsular ![]() As some of us were coming from Adelaide, (some 60kms away) a meeting was arranged at Hungry Jacks (the young kids bakery) at Darlington. ![]() As usual only us old farts turned up: Where2 (BMW) CharlieW (Dominator) & Masterbrewer (TDM) ![]() but looking towards the sky to where we were travelling, we could understand why! ![]() Launching ourselves up Toops Hill Rd towards the clouds we were soon in the dirt ![]() ![]() ![]() and down into Badgers Rd ![]() ![]() We then rode the ridge roads to Range Road West and into full-on "cloud nine" ![]() ![]() It got that thick that even Masterbrewer (TDM) disappeared in the mist ![]() We found him again and headed down Louds Hill Rd ![]() Then onto James Track out of Myponga ![]() and onto Kemmiss Hill Road out of Yankalilla ![]() What a rolla coaster ride that was ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Finally we enjoyed the Cappuccino delights of the Normanville Bakery to actually start the organised ride ( if you could believe it! ) ![]() This is where Goldfinger (our entrusted guide) came into his own and pointed us in the right direction with his state of the art GPS Errrr!!!!..... errrrr!!!!!...... where the f**k did you say we are on your MPS? ( for the uninitiated that's "Maps Per Sei!" ) Just look confident when the tail enders arrived they said.....right????? ![]() Hey guys!!!..... says the DRZ...............I keep telling you the action isn't on the roads. Some of us needed fuel, but the pumps were locked, at least the rest enjoy "time out" ![]() The next challenge was Saw Pitt Rd while we waited for the thirsty guys to come back from Victor Harbor (some 15kms away fully fuelled, less 15kms of course!!) ![]() It was a fabulous location to get your second wind for us "old timers" ![]() Someone said they were hungry, so without hesitation, off we go to the Mount Compass Bakery ..........................as you would! ![]() The final "practice ride challenge" Cox Scrub Conservation Park Oh ! .......................................Shit... ????? ![]() If we can get a run up shoooolllly we can just fly over this sink hole????? We've got enough room haven't we? ![]() Errrrr! are you sure????? ![]() Easy say the mob!........who am I to show any fear!!!!................f**ck!!!! ![]() Look I'm riding on water!!!! ![]() ![]() Damn!!!! I'll show how it's done. You only need speed....right????? ![]() Shhhiiiiittt!! ...I've changed my mind ????? ![]() If it wasn't that the Meadows bakery was in focus that I actually got through!!!!! ![]() Unfortunately we didn't experience the joys of the Meadows Bakery as the "little finger" was crying loudly at home over the phone so we all had to high tail it home ASAP. Fantastic "practice ride", but unfortuately I'm now afraid of what is to come with these "dangerous" guys Thanks everyone for such a fabulous day. Cheers

I had a great day, was good to meet some new riders & the bakery visits were very much enjoyed.
Sorrry to delay the group for a short period while I refueled in Victor Harbor, this will no longer be a problem as I have now invested in an 18 litre tank (double capacity to the original). In the morning on the way to the meeting place in Normanville, myself & Rob (DRZ400) explored the dirt road that weaves it's way up the hills directly behind the Victory Hotel at Sellicks Beach, this eventually comes out near the road to the start of the Myponga Reservoir, that was fun ! Anyway looking forward to heading out & doing the ride again. Cheers, Sol...(Dave)

G'day,
good ride report, especially as you name many roads, this gives us a chance to go on these roads (some known to me already) and follow your ride, almost as if we were with you, but not, so, alone we go, and now I can go look for that "oh...........shiiiit" / "sinkhole", road, wish me luck!
