Weekend ride in Scotland

Just returned from a nice weekend I've spent where people ride on the wrong side of the road

Even if the weather was terrible, it would be OK, because It's always a pleasure to visit a dear friend, and Simon is one of the best I have. Having a nice, sunny weather in Scotland can make a weekend like this - perfect! :))

I took a late flight from Frankfurt to Manchester, Si pick me up on the airport with his KLV 8o Of course, I didn't bring my suitcase, just the necessary things so two of us (not the smallest you can find), could fit on the bike.

We came late, sleep a while and departed at 07:00 Saturday morning. In the beginning, it was wet and cold. First refueling and Si couldn't start the bike - battery was empty. Electrical problems on his KLV, battery was not charged & all the power was sourced directly from the battery. After a few hours riding, KLV had lost lights, main console died, engine was running badly - it was a time to cancel the plans for the day and find a hotel to charge the battery and see what to do next.

Nice little hotel in Tyndrum (Scotland) after cca. 500 km we have done from 07-13:30. We have found the way to charge the battery, hotel had all sorts of beers and food available, fish and chips were just few meters away, we had enough time to talk and walk around. After all, it was not a bad day at all!

In short - Scotland is beautiful. Roads are fantastic, pavement made for motorbikes. Traction on almost all roads is of prime quality! Loch's, lakes and Scottish mountains makes a great scenery. I'm sorry now I have spent there only 2 days (partially), but there is a plan to visit Scotland again this year :))

Only one problems, cars are on the wrong side so we coming from the continent have to be really careful...

Poor KLV had empty battery. We park the bikes behind the hotel, and a nice hotel manager gave us an extension cable so we were able to use Optimate over night:

We had plenty of time for chatting and walking around. Upper Tyndrum train station:

Beautiful nature:

Our hotel:

Next day - weather was just perfect!

Lake district - I was already there, but this time from the other side:

At the end of the day, dinner with Si's family in Lancaster, and short sightseeing:

Great photos V-Strom. Thanks for taking me on a tour of the old country. I've never been there, but my wife was born there and we often talk about going over.

Nice to see another V-Strom in photos too. Mine's a 650K7.

Thanks for sharing.

Great pics - thanks. I lived in Scotland for four years and pictures like this really bring back memories. BTW - eating in Scotland isn't as bad as people say. It isn't New York, but it's not terrible. You can really develop a taste for haggis and Irn Bru!

Ohhhhhh my...the homeland.

Last summer I spent 10 days in Scotland and the Lake District with the ex-wife and ex-in-laws...(we were still one unit last summer) .

Fuck, if I could go back in time and spend it on a bike. Such is life!

Beautiful photos...thanks!
