Where did the power go?

From time to time we ask ourselves where are we losing the power in a bike, e.g. the difference between the engine horsepower and the rear wheel horsepower?

I just ran across this article in the recent Road and Track and it shed some light the issue and thought you might be interested...maybe that thick Redline gear lube sounds quiet, but you pay a price for it?? And maybe BMW is using some of these tricks in the new 1200GS??

Highly doubtful. Although Teflon coating is all the rage in the world of racing, it wouldn't necessarily be good for the everyday world. That is the supposed "magic" behind Slick 50 too, which has accelerated the failure of more than a few engines over the years. There are lots of reasons why teflon in an engine in our world can be just as bad as it can be good, but I won't bore everyone with the logistics.
