how to get from Crested Butte to Aspen?

I'm in Montrose right now and planning on heading to Delta and over to Kebler Pass on to Crested Butte and then Aspen over Independence Pass.
Final destination Denver.

What are the trails like or roads from CB to Aspen? Any tips much appreciated.

I was planning on heading out this morning but it was way too windy and didn't feel like getting rained on all day.
