Nope, never had a claim with them so I guess thats why I still consider them an option.

On a side note, what do you guys carry for coverage on your bikes? Just the state required minimum or more?

I buy bike insurance from American Modern in Cincinnatti-it is less than all the bike companies I could find on the net and in 3 bike magazines! Hopefully I'll never make a claim. I buy auto/home from KY Farm Bureau and in KY the law requires the insurance companies to provide a guide to typical policy costs to the public. Nobody probably uses it I suspect. The cost of the policy is one part of the equation , another is do they pay?- and another is do they cancel you? I have had many experiences as a good driver my self and wife and with 3 sons -also good drivers and have developed an attitude that insurance companies are not my friend! I have felt the shaft as they tried to avoid paying or taking responsibility. I also know about the true costs of repairs and the body shop side as a guy that does body work . The average customer has not a clue of the realities of that side of the vehicle stuff. A local agent can be nice or not but it is still a business deal. The insurance guys are among my many first employers as a guy that caddied for many years while growing up- they could afford the country club on the back of their clients! Just look at how the modern insurance industry was founded-it came about as a result of the goverment making anti-trust laws which kept the "fat cats" from ripping you off other ways? They actually met just at that time to concieve of the "insurance industry" as we know it today! LOL!!!

We're with Farmers. Full coverage. Being a public adjuster, I'm kind of into insurance.

I was with Kelly Eyen State Farm - her office is the one at Baseline and Foothills.

My beef was not with the Agent - it was with State Farm Corporate. I don't know if there was anything the agent could have done to remedy the situation.

Its nothing major or even that serious - except to my wallet. Here is what happened;

My wife had a claim on her car last March, when she slid into another car in an icy parking lot - she sold the car in July and no longer has any insurance coverage or affiliation with State Farm - she has a company car that the company provides insurance on. I got a notice in the mail a couple days ago (almost 9 months after the incident and 6months after she cancelled her insurance) that State Farm is going to raise MY insurance rates $1000/yr on my truck because of her claim. They said that as long as she lives in the same household with me, they will apply her rate increase to me even though she is not even listed on my policy. And to add to the bullshit - they told me that any claim over $1500 is a mandatory rate increase - I said "well, how much was her claim" they said the total came out to $1501.00 - hmmmmmm smell something fishy here?

It just gets under my skin that no one cares about loyalty anymore - I have been a good State Farm customer for quite a while. But, I should be thankfull - if this hadn't happened and I hadn't called Liberty Mutual - I would still be paying more money. Liberty Mutual just saved me almost half what I was paying at State Farm - so I gave them everything - 6 policies. Needless to say - they were very happy to have me.

More much more.......

your uninsured/underinsured as I understand it goes as high as your coverage so I tend to get 100/300 or 250/500..........

Our friend Loki at the other place just barely didn't go bankrupt when he had that not so little case of the bike riding him down the street after going over the car a couple of years ago......... the guy was underinsured and his policy just made the gap......... just over 120K total.

Yea - its definitely one of the those things that you might not think about but is better to have and not need than need and not have. And it doesnt add very much to the cost of your policy.

I got 100/300 on my policy.

I just went through my mail and got my renewal paper work for my progressive bike insurance, they are dropping my 12 month premium by $425!!! So, I did an online quote adjustment to up my coverage to 100/300 and also add the KTM on there and it only raises it by 300. So between the rate drop they are giving me and adding another bike I will still be coming in below all the other rates I have been getting quoted. So to mee It looks like I will be staying with Progressive
