Darwin strikes again...tragic

I knew Chris's cousin. Nice kid; but he did other stupid things too. I guess 19 is a dangerous time. This happened just a few miles from Pilot Mountain.

KING, N.C. -- Police said a 19-year-old on a dirt bike was struck and killed by a van on Saturday just south of King.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said Christopher Cockerham was traveling southbound on State Highway-66 at about 9 p.m. on his dirt bike without a helmet or lights. Sarah Kingsbury was traveling north in her van on the same highway when she made a left hand turn into Oakley's Grocery Store and struck Cockerham, WXII12 News reported.

Investigators said they do not believe alcohol was a factor, but they are awaiting toxicology reports from a medical examiner
