Moto GP trivia questions
I have been home with a Flu for a week and my librarian wife provided me with a great selection of motorcycle related books to keep me company.
I ran across some facts that I found interesting and thought it might be fun to test everyones general race knowledge. I have to confess I wouldn't have been able to answer more than a couple. Ten Questions; 1-Who was the first European rider to race a Japanese factory machine outside Japan? What year? 2-Who was the oldest rider to win a Moto GP in the 990 era? 3-Moto GP has had races on all but one continent - which continent hasn't been visited? 4-In 2004 Rossi won his first title on a Yamaha. How many podiums did the other Yamaha riders achieve that year? 5-GP has been a world championship since 1949. Only one track has hosted a GP every year the World Championship has existed. What track and where? 6-In the entire history of GP only two riders have become champion without falling off for an entire season. Rossi is one - Who is the other rider? 7-In Moto GP 990 2005 who was the only rider to score points in every race of the year? 8-In the 990 era in Moto GP two riders have won on both a Honda and a Yamaha. Name them. 9-What rider in what year started from pole in only his second 990 level race? 10-Only Geoff Duke, Val Rossi and one other rider won titles on different makes of motorcycles. Of the three only Rossi and the un-named rider won on two successive years. Who was the third rider? Extra credit; 1E - In 2003 Collin Edwards famously bailed off his Aprillia as it burst into flames. What was determined to be the cause of that fire? 2E - When Suzuki sent it's first team to the IOM the manufacturer of the motorcycles they raced was mistakenly listed as ? in the program? post your answers and good luck |
