I wanted to put my motor into a CRF frame, but it doesn't work.
I can't align the motor spocket... with the wheel spocket.

The CRF fork into the NX work but you have to change the barrillet...

Here is a link with explain how to change a CRF 230 fork :

The 230 CRF is almost the same size of our NX's.

...and what about the swingarm ?
A 450 CRF swinarm fits !! the only thing is to change the barillets and build a spacer on left and right side :

Ok it's good for the moment, see you soon.

Thank you kiriakos,

let me introduce myself, I'm 41, I'm IT administrator.
My first bike was an MTX 200, I converted it with a 125 CR (1984) fork and swingarm.
I onwed a 125 KTM, 250 YZ enduro, 410 HVA (the number 7 hand made in France with a 510 cylinder in a 350 motor), 250 HVA, 200KDX, 250 KTM EXC (I've got always this fabulous bike), a 450 CRF (with an exploded motor, you can see it on the pictures) and of course a 250 NX (I've found it on Ebay on may 2007 after 1 year of search for 800 € ).
I was riding in enduro in National 2 division from 1991 to 2001.
I've always consider a 250 NX as a very reliable and easy bike. A french guy have built a 310 NXR with a NX motor and a 90' 125 CR (with a 84' tank). I really don't understand why honda didn't product this bike :

http://www.advrider.com/forums/attac...1&d=1208033528

They have bored the motor to 310 Cm3 with a 300 Xr piston in it...
My NX is a 239 Cm3, in 80's french taxes was 10% for the bikes under 240 Cm3 and 20% for more than 240Cm3 and I can affirm that 250Cm3 has never been imported by honda in France.
Concerning your bike I've noticed that you said it was coming from France, but I'm 99,99 % that AX-1 has never been imported in France. But, if your bike is a 239 Cm3 it's for french taxes purpose, so your bike is a mystery for me...

BTW, I've got a question did someone have change the metal tank by a plastic tank, if yes wich model and what about the seat and shrouds ?
Thx

Bye

Patrick

Patrick only the engine is from France .... i got it from Greek dealer as import from France..

This days the second hand imports from Japan for complete motorcycles or engines , is over .
Thats why i end up, with engine from France.

You look to have dirty background (lots of mud trails )

My AX-1 has more street concept in it , from the NX 250 .
And i love it more, for that ..

Welcome again ...

In moto verte magazine april 2000, from HGA Japan :

"the 400 Cm3 Honda cross bike exists", in fact it's a 250 NX motor bored to 360 Cm3 in a 1998' 250 CR frame with a classic fork and they called it NXR. The carburator is a Keihin 39 and the rear shock is like a KTM PDS :

Wait a minute , are you saying , that in our NX250 , if we replace the cylinder and piston , and use the one from this motorcycle , we got 400 Cm3 ..Problem Free ??

Yes Honda Japan did it on this bike. Size is 92x60 mm, I don't know wich piston and cracnkshaft they used.
But, if you bore the cylinder to 78mm you can insert a 300XR piston, you get a 310 Cm3 NX and you keep your standard cranckshaft.
Standard Bore x stroke: 70.0 x 64.8 mm.
Bye

The original bore is electro plated. If you bore it out you loose that plating and have much more wear. Just something to be aware of.

Well i was counting to get the proper cylinder and piston,
with the Nikasil ( electro plated surface) .

Any way , this is another ( Only for Japan toy ) , and any search for this parts , will end up in vain .

Todays log entry

I did my first long run with my AX-1 after the rebuild .
I did 140 Km in the highway , i visited one auto-moto trading show ,
in a near by, town .

My speed was as :
120km/h at 60% of the ride .
130km/h at 20%
140km/h at 20%

All this confirmed by my companion , who had Suzuki Vstrom 650.
My odometer shows 5 Km less at 135km/h reading.

My motorcycle , performed extremely well .
The windshield did super fantastic work .
I tried to lean my body a bit left and right , off the windshield, and i fill instantly very strong turbulence and noise , i even tried to lift my head over the usual driving position , and also , buffeting and noise at extreme level , started immediately ... the windshield works .. thanks God
I killed about 70 flies with it , and another 20 with my helmet

I had also install the original air filter , my millage got higher by allot .
From 120 km/ 7l fuel , i got to 155 km/ 7l fuel .

Tomorrow i will fill it up , and i will find out how was my consumption, on the highway ( I had fill it up at the beginning of the trip ) , and now i will have data from it .
I was traveling at 6500-7500 RPM , making the most cost effecting usage in fuel.

My day at the trading show was great , but the weather was extremely hot for this season as 33C .
I got boiled in my jacket and gloves , the helmet ventilation worked amazing well .

I got many pictures from the show , but i will post just one, this is an NX thread .
