Here's the info from my buddy:

I'm pretty sure I got the bike from

There were three companies that I contacted. One was out of bikes, The second had some confusion over my reservation ( http:// ... I think ) and the third was the place that I finally got the bike (Rent a Dream i think..... and they were totally cool. )

I arrived in Milano and called Biancoblu to get picked up from the Milano train station, and that's when I found out I really didn't have a bike reservation. They gave me the name of another shop. I ended up getting the BMW from group of guy's running a rental shop 'on the side' working out of a dealership... I called them from the station. Their english was pretty rough.... but that was an advantage as far as I was concerned. They had a R850r and ended up cheaper than everyone else. Got rough instructions for taking a subway out to their suburban shop.

I didn't have my driver's license... which was likely to be a big problem with the other rental shops. They picked my up from the subway station in their bitch'n 'track van'. On the drive to the shop the dude subtly quizzed my about bikes I'd ridden to figure out if I was experienced. Later, when doing the paper work, he asked for my license and I told them "lost license". He was like "OK, You not need know motorcycles. You have Visa Card! No problemo. " I stored my extra crap & backpack in the parts department.... next thing I knew I was on the Autostrada the going 200kph... heading towards Genoa.... totally tripping-out.

I think I extended the rental twice and they were like "No problem. Have fun!" I brought the bike back with both of the BMW luggage cases totally scraped up from squeezing between a Mercedes taxi and a bus. When I pointed this out, he laughed and said. "You have good time in Italy ! " (no charge ) The bike did end up having an electrical problem on my last night in Milano... where the headlight would go out with the bars turned.... he laughed at that too.
