Introducing the XTW200 LSA

Following the example set forth by several guys at the TW200 forum I decided to tackle the job of installing the 4.0 Gallon XT350 tank from Clarke using one of thier methods. To fill in the gaps between the tank and the stock seat I heat formed some 1/4 in plastic sheet and lined it up with the stock side panels. After accomplishing this I looked at my list of wants from the AK trip last summer and ordered a windshield from a guy at the TW forum who makes them. I then surfed around and found an idea for pelican case panniers from KLR650.com. I used Pres. Bush's stimulus money to order a 115V welder, chopsaw, and angle grinder. I ordered 16 feet of 3/4" steel square tubing and made a few mods. The end result is a DAKAR ready TW with 4.4 gallons of gas on board (an honest 325+ mile range). Behold the XTW200 LSA (Low and Slow Adventure). Hope you enjoy the photos:
