Savana Hwy?

Hi guys,
can anybody advise me what the road from Burketown to Borroloola is like and then from Cape Crawford to Mataranka? A mate and myself a looking at taking an 1100gs and an 1150gsa across there to Darwin in late July early August 09. Any advise re fuel stops and road conditions would be appreciated.

I did this road last year. Road was in very good condition and you will have no problems. Top up with fuel at Doomagee and you will need enough range to get thru to Borroloola. There used to be fuel at Hells gate roadhouse, but it was closed a couple of years ago.

You guys will be fine. I also did that road and a few more back tracks. The road is in good nick and if you ring to the Hells gate road house a few days earlier and be nice to them they will give you a top up of fuel if you need it.

They don't tell people they operate anymore because they have the shits with da gubament for charging them crazy fees for a liquor licence etc so they shut the doors. I was even able to camp there and use the showers overnight. Beats Booraloola.

if your going to be in the area at that time you should pop in to the Offcenter Rally at lorella springs
