Advise needed 950 been hit

Seeking advise on unfortunate accident. Only 100mi on my new Black 950 and a guy backs into it while parked. Bike falls over on left side. Very minor scratches to L exhaust, L passenger peg bracket, L footpeg, L side lower fairing, completely broken clutch lever, completely cracked up lower L side plastic thingy that is below bodywork.

Also, bike was in 1st gear, bike was pushed maybe 1.5ft, could this have messed up the tranny? Seems to run fine. What a HASSLE. Seems to me I should get a quote for all parts and have him write a check for that. He is willing to write check, does not want to involve insurance.

Where would you start to get quote for parts? Like to order KTM tankbag too!

I did not purchase bike locally as dealer does not sell the 950.

If it was your new car you would do this wouldnt you want all items replaced new?

I GREATLY appreciate your thoughts and suggestions! I really enjoy this website and I LOVE this bike!

Happened to me on a R1100 once and it didnt hurt the transmission at all. dont know about KTMs. Get everything replaced by the culprit (EVERYTHING) he did it, he has to pay for what he did. Keep the new stuff for when you really bang up the bike or sell it.

at least the guy seems straight and you were not sat on the bike at the time.

Bummer

Your story reminded me of the day my one day old '81 GPz550 rolled forward and fell off the sidestand. At least I had no one to blame but myself,I had neglected to leave the bike in gear. I just got my 950 this week-did 300 mis. in the Allegheny National Forest yesterday. BTW the tank bags are on back order at KTMUSA.

The plastic gizmo you (he) broke is a "tank protector" or some such. It's there to sacrifice itself so you don't bust the spendy tank.. It did its job.

I usually get KTM parts from Cycle Zone in kansas. Usually quite decent service. http://www.cyclezonektm.com/

Don't know how fast they are on Adventure orders yet. I should get sone stuff from the next week though.

You can also check out the dealers that support www.ktmtalk.com A lot of folks like Munn (don't know how he is on Adventures), but I found him to be a blithering idiot. Everyone has off days I suppose.

Wicked Parts Order

Get Yourself the parts catalogs with graphics.

2004 Spareparts Manual 950 / 950 S Engine #3208140

2004 Spareparts Manual 950 / 950 S Chassis #3208139

Order parts online through www.KTM-Parts.com I have had good service so far with them.

Most shops I have dealt with do not have a large inventory of parts in stock for the 950 and they will have to get them from the wharehouse. Most things seem to take 2 weeks or more.

Hope this helps. By the way the Black 950 has 20 more horsepower. Its not a party until she has a scratch on her. Now your ready to ride.

Scuba:

KTM-Parts.com is apparently a storefront for a dealer. Any idea who?

Thx
