Dyna coil on an airhead

Came across this pic (if it lasts, can't upload pic right now) and am real curious about this coil.

I keep hearing bad stuff about the pair of BMW 6V coils for the R100T I am working on.

Anybody know about this setup?

on my second one

I've just replaced mine. PO had installed the first one (manufacture date was 10/97) but it was mounted using a very vibration-prone technique (the venerable zip tie). Now I have a shiny new Aluimium bracket and coil from Rick? at Motorrad Elektrik

What, my zipties got loose after only seven years?

Jeez, they just don't make'm like they used to, eh?

Shiny alu bracket looks real nice.

I guess 7 years is the upward limit for zip ties- perhaps a layer of duct tape would have extended that

I'm curious to see how this coil will hold up without the vibes of the first one- I'll check back in 2011 with an update...
