a lifelong work in progress
now that's dedication!

I feel the same way about my bike. When I hit 100,000 miles or so and feel the need to do some more heavy maintenance I'd like to pull the engine apart and powdercoat it black. maybe get the internals balanced by a hotrod shop. Most bikes are disposable on that kinda timeline.

FWIW, the CRFs and most other dirtbikes run between 250-275 pounds. If you hit 300 it wouldn't be a dog at all. I'm assuming magneto ignition, no battery, no starter?

Unless the rider is really good I think you'd dust a CRF on that bike in tight single track. It takes skill to ride a bike with a 37" seat height around slow corners well. The CRF would win out on the landing if you built a 15' ramp and tried to jump your house though.

I got 5 bucks on 299. Have a little faith!

Photo resolution is MUCH better here at the home computer with flatscreen.... Now I can clearly see the lower "frame" which is in fact the exhaust..

Would love to see a couple of shots of the lower shock mount on the swingarm, if that is a straight and regular swingarm....and I am guessing that the shocks were used to raise the rear end? Would be interested to have a measurement of some point, say the top shock mount, above the ground when the bike is on its own two feet....

Also, must see!!!: front of engine... was the whole timing chain thingy just plain removed, shortened, etc etc????

Cool project/bike.... we is waiting....and congrats!

Nice

Nice to see the rubber cow back.
Love the bike.
Is the seat H1 kawasaki?

With material removal to get the maximum angle across the universal joint. did you remove material from the inside of the swing arm to improve clearance for the Ujoint?
have you squashed the frame cross tube to prevent damaging the rubber boot?
How much angle or travel do you get out of this.
I'm getting 210mm out of a standard length monolever and have 30,000km (20,000 miles) on the Ujoint. I reckon I can get another 10-15mm by swapping to a non cush drive shaft and making a couple more changes to the geometry.
Wise heads tell me I'll blow the Ujoint but they told me that on the last modification.
I'm prepared to sacrifice a Ujoint every 40-45,000 km as it's still cheaper than chain & sprokets.

Title says it's a GS, but is that a cast monolever rear wheel (Y-spoke four bolt)?

Nice! I've been thinking about something like that for my R80 mono, but the cast wheels have put me off. Seeing you and a few others on here do it anyway has got me thinking again.
