Flanny Goes to Pisgah - Need Ride Suggestions

I'm, doing a combo Mountain Bike and Motorcycle Trip with my Ibis Mojo (MTB), and 950 Adventure over the Easter Weekend, and a few days leading-up to it.

I'll be based out of Brevard NC.

I'm looking for suggestions for Motorcycle rides to do in the afternoons and early evening after a morning of MTB. Something like 5 hours of good roads, and gravelly forest roads (no full-on off-road, since I'll be running my 17/19 mostly street tire combo, and I'll prolly be riding mostly alone, so need to keep the risk factor down.)

Looking for suggestions on:

- "Must-do" rides for the area; Road numbers and/or gps tracks would be awesome.
- Must-see spots to ride to (cool historic stuff, geographical wonders and stuff like that)
- Cool restaurants/brew-pubs to hit on a ride.
- Possibility of hooking up with folks on the Saturday afternoon (April 11) for a spin and dinner on the road.

I'll probably hit "the Dragon" but to be honest, I prefer isolated back-areas versus carnival atmospheres...

Let me know the scoop, and maybe we can hook up on the Saturday.

Sounds like a great trip.

Brevard is a great base to be at. Stayed at the Davidson River Campground a few weeks back. I did a short write up about it. A nice loop would be for road time.. 276 towards Waynesville and 215 back. I did one mid to late afternoon and the other mid morning. It was during the week and no traffic at all.

Also post your question to this thread. There are plenty around up there to give you suggestions.

And check out this book, It can give you some great ideas for your mtb time.

Also.. check out possible moto trails off Caney Fork area between Cashiers and Culllowhee. I used to have one that I truly enjoyed going up from the head of Caney Fork up to the parkway just west of Richland Balsaam

Have a great time.

If you are going to ride the Dragon find Tatham Gap Rd. Sweet gravel rode up through a couple valleys. Interesting history to go with it.
