I just found out as I opened an email from his wife Sally:

He was really glad that you bought his bike from him and he thought you were a great guy and was even more pleased that you were keeping him informed of your progress with the bike and how much you were working on it and how pleased you were with the work he did on it. All of this really meant a lot to him in his last few weeks.

RIP Richard, thank you so much.

RIP

Yes, that's the way I'm looking at it.

Although I didn't know Richard well, he seemed like a very trustworthy guy and was obviously passionate about the DRBig. Because of his treatment, he'd just got too weak to ride. When I met him he'd had a bone marrow transplant and was hoping to be fighting fit within 12 months.

I'm very grateful to him. Like Richard, I wouldn't dream of selling anyone a bad bike, I'm a big believer in karma. I hope I'll do him (and his pride & joy DR) justice, and I certainly don't plan on selling the bike anytime soon.

I hope it wasn't inappropriate to post about his passing in this thread. It just hit me quickly as I had also attended a funeral for a friend last Thursday.

Seize the day, guys.

Just got up for a mo in the we hours 4am
Im glad to see you have your priorities right with your son

+1 800. Now go back to bed!

Personally, much as I love and have loved all 5 my bikes, at the end of the day its metal, plastic and rubber. That's it! No more. I look after it but it's a tool. I'm sounding dismissive, I know, but I'm not.

I treasure my family and friends. You should have seen my birthday 2 weeks ago - I had from bikers to a reverent! The reverent's commented me on my friends and family - a plum for the cap I guess...

BTW, where's our Ladder friend. And that handy Canadian?

Let me go watch us whip Oz in the cricket...

Wicked CDI check

You're all probably well and truly pissed off with me by now. But as a wise old man (me) once said, "If you don't ask, you won't know."
Can a CDI unit be checked or do you just try another one. And, is there a unit from another bike that would suit 'cause trying to get another one is like trying to buy hens teeth.
Cheers,
ausibatla.

most likely be some crap in the bottom of the tank aswell.
i would look at flushing tank and lines aswell as fuel pump and carb, even put new seals/orings in carb, atleast youll know she'll be sweet for a few years to come.

Not at all. Every time someone asks a question, I learn something new.

Guess you posted "The Forbidden Clip". Seems to be a touchy subject, should be a big warning sign somewhere. =) Don't worry, you wont be banned.
