Fontana to Suches...?

Next month I'll be staying in Fontana and want to run down to Suches, Wolf Pen, etc.

Far as getting down there from Fontana - rather than taking Wayah Rd. to Franklin & hopping on 64, which I'm assuming is mostly slab (?) or 129, what about this:

Take Dick's Creek Rd. off Wayah, which becomes Big Choga Rd. & Tuni Gap Rd. (or National Forest Rd.) & Tusquittee Rd. and ends up down at 64 on the GA border?

Anybody done this? Is it paved? Is the road decent?

You could go from fontana to the cherohola skyway over to tellico and down 68 to 60 to suches it's a great ride all paved. Or you could go 28 to warwoman road to 76 to 75 over richard russel parkway (rte 348) to 180 to 129 back onto 180 over suches still all paved

Thanks.

Does Warwoman have a Rt#? Which of those 2 routes you mentioned has the least straight bits?

Warwoman runs east out of Clayton Ga.

I didn't ride Warwoman when I was there. I'd planned on it, but I was in the middle of a frog strangler. Visibility was an issue, as well as needing to be somewhere, but I can tell you that 28 running both north and south are very nice bits of asphalt as well. Especially north, once you get north of Highlands at points you'll be on a bit of road that's up on a cliff over looking a gorge. It's very pretty.

When you get into the community of Sataloah then Warwoman will be a few miles on the right. it cuts back hard and is an unusual intersection and going south you may miss it (which really isn't a bad thing as 28 stays curvy). If you cross the SC line then turn around and go back to Warwoman Road.

When you get to Clayton take Main Street south to Tiger GA then right on Bridge Creek Road, then right on Burton Dam then Left on Hwy 197 for the best ride.

Tiger Food Mart in downtown Tiger had a killer burger.

It's all good....now you're gonna have to ride it 3 or 4 times just to do all the fun routes.

When will you be there?

I'll be there (Fontana Dam Resort) the week of the 8th. for the COG National.

Riding the Connie, but having the KLR trailered down.
