If you are used to twisty roads, there is not much good riding down there. But it is beautiful country, and most any 2 lane on the map is good for seeing the countryside and marshes. Francis Marion Forest is north of Charleston; there is some dual sporting oppotunities there.

What I love about the area is the history. Lot's to see and do in regards to the history of the area, the south, and the country. Good seafood can be had at Hyman's downtown. For some of the best, head to the Bowens Island resturant off of the Folly Beach Rd. The place is a dump, but it has the best seafood IMHO.

If you want great riding, then the other Charleston - in WV has some great roads to offer. Let me know if you are interested.

No Slab

Take secondary roads and avoid the Slab to see the real "Low Country".
If you have time to run down towards Beaufort, ride out to Fripp Island and Huntington SP. Good camping there, nice beach. Too many good places to eat and drink in Charleston to list.

Speak slowly, be patient, and forget about curves in the roads.

I used to live in Charleston. Laziest, must unambitious people on the planet. But still, nice folks.

Hit Folly Beach... the closest to alternative culture you will there.
